I had the pleasure of trying Mielle Organics Pomegratate and Honey Collection after the amazing $4.99 sale they had last year. I consider myself Type 4 hair, and they specifically say this collection is for my type, so I went for it. As my hair gets longer and thicker, products that used to work, don’t work as much, so this was the perfect opportunity to see if Mielle lived up to the hype…and I am here to tell you…IT DID!
To give you a little background, Mielle Organics is a hair care and beauty brand that believes healthier ingredients encourage healthier hair and skin. Their products are organic and suited for different needs based on the consumer. It was launched in 2014 by Founder and CEO Michelle Rodriguez.
Ok now…to my review! I used the Shampoo and Conditioner and I honestly don’t know why I did not try these products sooner. It uses natural ingredients like honey and babassu oil to lift dirt and oil from your hair while preserving moisture, and the shampoo is sulfate free. I did not feel like my hair was stripped after the wash, and it smells so good. The conditioner complimented the Shampoo so well. Smell still incredible, but also it helped with detangling and moisture. I apply, let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse out. The only negative of them is I want a bigger size bottle! lol
To style my hair, I applied the Leave In Conditioner first. I do the LOC Method (Leave In, Oil, Cream) when doing braidouts, and the LOG method (Leave In, Oil, Gel) when doing wash and goes. With a blend of natural ingredients like babassu oil and citrus extracts, the leave in adds penetrating moisture to every hair strand and seals it in for lasting hydration. It also provides natural shine, prevents frizz, and makes detangling easier without weighing down your hair. This was the description from the website, and it most definitely does all of this. I normally have to struggle with my thick type 4 hair especially in the crown area, but with this leave in, my fingers went through the smoothest I have experienced. I don’t like to overload my hair with product because my hair takes forever to dry, and this conditioner is not heavy at all. I have nothing bad to say about that Leave In at all!
The oil I use is not from the Pomegranate and Honey Collection, so I will review those separately. They are still Mielle Organics though. Their Almond Mint Oil and Rosemary Mint Scalp and Hair Strengthening Oil are the truth! Review to come for those!
My styler/cream was the Twisting Souffle. This stuff is thick and a little goes a long way. I would divide my hair into six sections and apply a quarter size amount to each section before sectioning again to braid. This styler gives my hair so much shine and definition. Braidout looks juicy (see pic below) and I love it! It also withstands me working out. I put my hair in a pineapple to work out, and take it down and it is just as fluffy and voluminous as before.

My styler/gel was the Coil Sculpting Custard. I must admit, I did not think my hair would like it cause I am used to heavy gels like Eco Styler, but this custard gave my hair great hold and definition while keeping volume. I normally have to give my Eco wash and go a day or two to fluff up and get big, but with this custard, I had amazing Day 1 hair! Yall know great Day 1 hair is hard to come by in this natural hair journey lol. I had to make sure I applied to my hair while very wet though. It absorbed and styled better with my hair coming right out the shower very little towel dry.
To refresh my curls, I would use the Curl Refresher. This one is new to the line, and it is perfect for after a workout or in the morning when you are taking your hair out your bands or pineapple and need help with shaping your hair for the day. I would apply this refresher spray and fluff. Took all of 4 minutes to do my hair and go.
For a perm rod set, I used the Curl Defining Mousse with Hold. I had not done a rod set on my hair in years, so with more length and more hair came new products to try. I used nothing but this based on other products I had used where using oils and leave ins before was too much product. I think going forward I will use the Leave In and Mousse for better definition. My hair was defined using this product, but I felt that I lost my shine quickly. I think if I layer the products next time, I will be very pleased. It was not drying at all when applying. It had moisture just like the other products in this line.
This last product is probably my favorite! The Super Hold Edge Gel! I use this every day! when I refresh my curls and need to lay down my edges, this will not disappoint. I hate when I use an edge gel and think I am good to go then 10 minutes later them baby hairs waving back at me lol. Using this gel, I had hold all day and even after a workout them edges were STILL laid! I loved it so much I went ahead and ordered 2 more that day! Also take advantage cause it is $6 right now on the site!

All in all, Mielle is alright with me! This Pomegranate and Honey Collection is going to stay in my line up for hair care. If you have Type 4 hair and have yet to try this line, I highly encourage it! Kelz wouldn’t steer you wrong girl! And that’s on who!!! Yall know the rest!
