As you read in my previous post, Mason, or maybe I, was ready for Mason to sleep in his own room. The crib was a no go, so it was time to transform his room to a “Big Boy” room with a toddler bed and all. When I decided to get his room prepared for a toddler vibe, there was no doubt in my mind that Mickey Mouse was going to be his Big Boy Room theme. He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and all things Mickey! Being on Stay at Home Orders gave me the downtime I needed to get this project done. This past weekend, I surprised him and revealed his room with updated touches to make it more Mickey inspired as well as make it more appealing to him as we want him to want to be in his room for lengthy periods of time.
His previous room or “nursery” looked like this:

I loved Mason’s nursery decor. Navy is a favorite color of my husband and me, and I wanted that as an accent wall. The elephants were my choice (of course as I am a Delta), but I made sure to bring them in in a way that resonates that he is a boy. Gray was the perfect neutral to pair with navy, and the furniture had to be white to bring it all together. Also with this white furniture and gray accents, I can re-purpose everything should God see fit to bless us with another child. Cost effective and simple yet fly! lol
Here is Mason’s Big Boy room:

Mason’s bed has pictures of Mickey and his friends, so I tried to incorporate his friends throughout the room. This wall decal was such a hit with Mason! It gives the illusion that they are coming through the wall, and when he saw it for the first time, he could not stop coming back to it in amazement. Seeing this kid smile and laugh brings me such joy as his mother. If he is happy, how the heck can I not be!?! Am I right mommies or am I right! lol
Due to lack of storage, I incorporated pieces of his nursery decor into his Big Boy decor. We made the corner a reading corner with his rocker and elephant blanket as an accent. We rock over there and read a bedtime story before Mason gets ready for bed. I also kept his little Mason rocker by his bed with his personalized blanket, gifted to him by his Auntie Erin and Auntie Michelle, for him to enjoy me time with a book while he rocks. His Grammy got him that rocker and made sure to personalize it with elephants. We may update it with Mickey stickers but for now, I enjoy the memory it provides of when my toddler was a baby.

I will probably add a few more posters and mount a TV to make the room complete, but for now, Mason has not one single complaint…

Everything I purchased for his room update came from Amazon or Etsy. I will link everything below.
